Essay & Educational Competitions
While primarily a training and research institute, GNMS and its parent bodies use competitions to engage the youth:
Gandhi Jayanti Competitions: The society organizes various contests for schools and colleges, including essay writing, elocution, and storytelling, focusing on Gandhian teachings of truth and non-violence.
Awareness Programs: Essay topics often revolve around Gandhi’s lasting impact, rural development, and the emancipation of women, which was a specific wish Gandhiji had for the future of the Agakhan Palace.
Art Competitions
Art is used as a medium to educate visitors about the life and values of “Ba and Bapu”:
-
Picture Gallery: Inaugurated in 1972, the museum’s ground floor features large oil paintings and murals depicting Gandhi’s life, childhood, and his journey through the freedom struggle.
-
Visual Repertoire: The collection includes nearly ten large oil paintings, such as “A New Hope in Rural India,” which visualizes Gandhi’s commitment to constructive rural programs.
-
Modern Art Styles: The society maintains that their collection reflects a wide range of styles from the modern art world, emphasizing creativity and diversity.
