Overview

Flag hoisting is a central part of national celebrations at the Palace, rooted in its history during the freedom struggle:

  • National Days: Ceremonies are held every January 26 (Republic Day) and August 15 (Independence Day).

  • Historical Significance: These modern events commemorate the moments when Gandhi personally hoisted the flag on the Palace premises on January 26 in both 1943 and 1944 while imprisoned there.
